Oh, was THAT the line I just crossed?

She did it. She really did it. I can't believe that she did it. Well, never mind, this is Layla I'm talking about. Of course I can believe it.

Mike had to run out to pick something up after dinner tonight, so I was alone in my attempts to manage the bedtime prep. I was able to get Evie bathed, lotioned, and placed in the ring of neglect (aka exasaucer). I managed to get Layla into the bathtub, and while she was soaking, I walked into her room.

Now, I had heard her go in and dump out one of her baskets of toys when she was mad about something, but I didn't think twice about it. When I walked into her room and by the toys, it was damp. Hmm, that's odd. Being an experienced mom AND dog owner, I get down and sniff it. Interesting, but nothing conclusive. And as I walk into the bathroom and see the underwear she just took off laying, soaking wet, on the floor of the bathroom, I seriously considered turning right around and not even dealing with it.

Layla, did you potty in your underwear? Yes we use the term potty. That word I swore I would NEVER use, but failed miserably.

Layla, did you potty on your toys?

Now, of course I attempted the WHY? with my two and a half year old, and of course she couldn't give me an answer. And yes, I did the "I'm so disappointed in you. I'm so angry". Blah, blah, blah. But the icing on the cake was when I told her that all of the toys that she peed on where going away for a very long time. And her response?

Fuck. You can't win a moral teaching opportunity when you're working with a soulless beast.

  1. But did you make her watch you throw them in the trash? That's what i do!

  2. I would of if I didn't have another one who's life will be ruled by hand me downs. If I got rid of them forever I would only be punishing second child.

  3. Here's what you do then: Take out the trash and put a new bag in the can. Then have her dump the toys in the new, empty trash bag. When she's in bed, take the clean trash bag full of toys out of the can and hide it somewhere real good. By the time Evie's old enough for them, hopefully Layla will have forgotten that she threw them all away when she was 2.5 years old.

  4. Shannon is a liar! Shannon is a liar!

Pretty good for a first time mom to a 1/2 year old. You learn quick!

  5. Dood, it's not lying. It's "creating an alternate reality."
