Penis! Penis! Where are you?

Ever since Layla was very little, when we were looking for something, I would say (in a sing-songy voice) "polar bear, polar bear, where are you? Where are you?" as we searched (or insert whatever we were looking for). When she started talking, she would do it herself whenever she was looking around, even in the grocery store. Well, it took an interesting turn last night. As I'm putting Evie down, I hear yelled from the other room:

"Penis! Penis! Where are you? Where are you?".

And then undid all of my progress on putting youngest child to sleep by starting to laugh. And thanking the gods that Mike was out there having to deal with it.

What the hell is she talking about? Seriously? Perhaps she saw a stray penis doing laps around the house. I guess stranger things have happened.

Okay, that's probably not true. Having a stray penis running around someones house would probably top the list of strangest shit happening. Ever. But hell, it's January in Alaska. Strange is everywhere.

On the positive though, she made Elba almost cry today. When I told her to say "bye Elba". SHE DID! In her full voice. First time since this whole vow of silence thing started that she spoke audibly to Elba. She had started chatting with other kids, but not Elba. Elba snatched her up and loved on her for about 2 full minutes. It was very sweet.

And Layla played it off like it was no big deal and it happens every day.
